Should Gas Powered Mini Pocket Rocket Bikes Be Banned?

The debate is on about whether or not gas powered mini pocket rocket bikes should be legally banned. They are not safe, say supporters of the ban. People buy these as toys for their children, and some are sold as such, but they are not toys as some of the gasoline pocket rockets have the potential to keep up with freeway traffic. Supporters contain that gas powered mini pocket rocket bikes are dangerous.

What’s next? Will we want to ban treehouses? A child can fall out of one of those and sustain injuries, too. Not so many years ago kids were encouraged to play hard. Boys were encouraged to play contact sports, ride motorcycles, and climb trees. Parent knew these things could be dangerous, but that’s what made the boys tough. These are the things that made our boys grow up to be men.

These days too many parents are over-protecting their children and not allowing them to enjoy the dangerous fun that kids are meant to enjoy. This kind of protection is fine if you choose it, but there are many more parents who want their kids to play hard and enjoy their youth, and they should be allowed to feel that way, too.

Mini pocket rocket bikes, either gasoline or electric, aren’t allowed on the freeway, or on any street for that matter, because mini pocket rocket bikes are not street legal. They are made for racing and for riding off road. Yes, some of them can travel at up to 70 miles per hour, and even faster when they are modified to do so, but this is for the purpose of racing the bike in competition. Competition bikers don’t want, or need, pansy bikes that won’t exceed 20 miles per hour. That would be dangerous for them.

Gasoline powered mini pocket rocket bikes should be enjoyed, not banned. If a parent doesn’t want their kids to have them they don’t have to buy them. But why take them away from parents and kids who do want them and enjoy them? There are safety measures that can, and are, taken when riding a mini pocket rocket bike. That should suffice.
